Air source heat pumps • MCS • BUS eligible

Air source heat pumps that actually hit the efficiency on the spec sheet.

Most underperforming heat pumps aren't bad units — they're badly designed systems. Kinergy's ASHP work starts with a real room-by-room heat loss survey and ends with a low-flow-temperature system tuned to your property, not a generic quote against square meterage.

Brand choice depends on heat loss, hot water demand, noise limits, available space and warranty preferences — we'll recommend what fits, not what pays us the best margin.

The Kinergy heat pump process

From enquiry to commissioning, step by step.

1. Heat loss survey

Room-by-room CIBSE/MCS-compliant heat loss calculation. Radiator or emitter review. Hot water demand assessment. Noise and siting check for the outdoor unit.

2. System design & quote pack

Proper schematic, pipework sizing, emitter strategy, buffer/volumiser decision, controls strategy. Clear quote pack with what's included, what's not, and SCOP expectations.

3. BUS application

MCS certificate and BUS voucher handled by us. £7,500 grant deducted from the installed price so you pay the net figure.

4. Install

Outdoor unit, cylinder, controls, any emitter upgrades, electrical works and commissioning — all under one roof. NICEIC-approved for the electrical side.

5. Commissioning & handover

Weather compensation curves set, flow temperatures tuned, controls explained. You leave with clear documentation, not a mystery.

6. Aftercare

Annual service offer, warranty support and a real phone number for post-install questions.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Up to £7,500 off an eligible air source heat pump

The UK government's BUS scheme currently offers £7,500 toward eligible air source heat pump installations in England and Wales, claimed by your MCS installer. Kinergy handles the MCS certification, eligibility check and BUS voucher so the grant comes straight off your installed price. Current eligibility rules on GOV.UK.

Typical spec

What a Kinergy ASHP install usually includes.

Outdoor unit
Monobloc or split ASHP sized to measured heat loss, typically 5–16 kW for domestic.
Cylinder
Unvented hot water cylinder sized to occupancy — typically 180–300 L with heat pump coil.
Flow temperature
Designed for ~35–50°C to hit real-world SCOP of 3.5–4.5.
Controls
Weather compensation, hot water schedule, optional smart thermostat integration (Nest, Tado, Ecobee).
Emitter strategy
Larger radiators or underfloor where needed to keep flow temperatures low.
Electrical
Dedicated circuit, isolator and CT-clamp-ready wiring for solar/battery integration.

Heat pump FAQs

The questions that come up before people book a survey.

Will a heat pump actually work in my house?

In most UK houses, yes — if the design is right. Older, un-insulated properties may need larger emitters or partial insulation upgrades. We'll tell you what's needed in the survey.

Is it as warm as my gas boiler?

Yes, but it works differently — steady, lower-temperature heat rather than short hot blasts. Most customers prefer it once they're used to it.

How loud is it?

Modern ASHPs run around 40–55 dB(A) at 1 m — roughly a quiet fridge. Siting matters; we check Permitted Development noise limits in the survey.

What about my hot water?

A heat pump heats a hot water cylinder, with an optional legionella cycle. Sized properly, you won't notice a difference vs. a combi.
